It was a happy occasion for members of the Jim Thorpe Rotary Club last night as the group celebrated its 50th anniversary with a dinner at Trainer’s Inn, Lehighton. About 80 people attended the affair.

Guests of honor were Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Weiss of Jim Thorpe. Weiss, who is 91, is the only living member of the original Rotary which was formed on May 12, 1924.

Richard R. West of Sayre, governor of Rotary District 741, presented R.F. Dubbs, club president, a golden anniversary plaque.

Former presidents of the local club in attendance included Donald Rudi of Pottstown, Bill Wilhelm of Allentown and Leo Lesisko of Tamaqua.
