Members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Third and Iron streets, Lehighton, announced plans for the groundbreaking ceremony for their new church that will take place on “Thanksgiving Sunday.”

Participants will include the Rev. Paul Spohn, pastor, Lehighton Mayor Wilbur A. Bauchspies, Borough Manager Mortimer L. Smedley and Harold Blacker of Wescosville, the general contractor.

In its “Second Century Challenge,” to date, church members, friends and supporters of the congregation have pledged $196,718 towards the project, and are closing in on the $200,000 goal that was established several weeks ago for the project.
