West Penn Rod and Gun Club members are celebrating the club’s 70th anniversary this year and will hold a special event next week in observance of the special year.

The club, located on Route 443 in Clamtown, currently has over 700 active and social members.

Club records indicate it originated on March 12, 1928, as the West Penn Game and Forest Protective Association and was officially chartered on March 4, 1929.

Current officers include Marlin G. Zehner, president; Brett G. Zehner, vice president; Barbara Brode, treasurer; Robert Oswald, recording secretary; Iris Decresi, financial secretary; David Char, field captain; and Joseph Fritz, Thomas Klein, Jolene Oswald and Terry Zehner, trustees.
