Summit Hill Arbor Day

The Summit Hill Shade Tree Commission will celebrating Arbor Day in Summit Hill on April 27 at the Gazebo in Ludlow Park at 11 a.m. The memorial trees will be planted in various parks in the borough.

The residents and officials of Summit Hill are invited to attend the ceremony.

Summit Hill Historical Society

The Summit Hill Historical Society will plant three memorial trees as part of the town’s Shade Tree Commission’s annual tree planting on Saturday. They will be in memory of Bruce Frassinelli, Norman Selina, and Suzanne McCready.

The society will also be open from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. It is located at the former UCC Church at 1 West Hazard St.

Senior Center

The Panther Valley Senior Center announced the menu for April 29-May 3.

Monday: Stuffed Peppers, Mashed Potatoes, Carrots, Yogurt or Beef Club Sandwich

Tuesday: BBQ Riblette, Baked Beans, Mixed Vegetables, Clementine or Ham and Cheese Sandwich

Wednesday: Chicken Fritters, Red Potatoes, Wax Beans, Applesauce or Chicken Caesar Salad

Thursday: Spaghetti and Meatballs, Broccoli, Salad, Pudding or Pastrami and Swiss Sandwich

Friday: Onion Soup, Breaded Fish, Broccoli and Cauliflower, Cookie or Salad with Chicken

The senior center also announced the following events.

Bingo on April 29 at 10:45; Game Day on April 30 at 11 a.m.; Win, Lose or Draw on May 1 at 11 a.m.; Po-Keeno on May 2 at 11 a.m.; Horseracing on May 3 at 11 a.m.

Center closed May 6 to 17.

Cards, Pool, Games, available daily from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. New members are welcome.

Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus Panther Valley Council is hosting a Pitch, Hit and Run Competition for boys and girls ages 7 to 14 at the Lansford Little League Complex on April 27.

The event is sponsored by Major League Baseball. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the competition begins at 9 a.m. Officials need the child’s proof of age to register.

The event is free.
