Woman rescued from burning Tamaqua home

Firefighters rescued a woman from a burning home in Tamaqua Thursday morning.

The fire was reported at 9:50 a.m. at 336 Reilly Ave. in the Dutch Hill section of the borough, said Tamaqua Fire Chief James Connely.

The woman, Joanne Faust, was flown to a Lehigh Valley Health Network hospital. Connely had no word on her condition.

Firefighters also were able to save one of two cats.

The fire was declared under control at 10:20 a.m., Connely said.

He noted that the single, detached home suffered extensive damages.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. A Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal is handling the investigation.
