Lehigh Township hires special labor attorney

Lehigh Township supervisors hired a special labor attorney Tuesday night following an executive session.

Neil Morris of Philadelphia was hired, but supervisors did not release specifics about cost or why he was hired.

The Ofitt Kurman website lists Morris as chair of the firm’s Philadelphia Labor and Employment Group. His biography says he has represented employers for more than 35 years, concentrating in the areas of labor and employment, municipal labor law, employment discrimination, defamation defense, commercial litigation, and business litigation.

He has served as special/labor counsel for more than 35 Pennsylvania townships and boroughs, Bucks County, and many private employers. “He is often brought into municipalities to handle ‘crisis’ situations involving employees and management,” his biography says.

In other business, the supervisors approved $162,099 to Bracy Construction and $43,510 to Billitier Electric for work on the new maintenance building.

The township is buying a 2017 Ford Pickup for $31,200.75 from Upper Macungie.

Supervisors agreed to send a letter to Northampton County to support repairing the bridge on Cedar Drive.

The township tabled the recreational marijuana ordinance for more information.
