The Polk Township supervisors took the following actions during their monthly meeting on Monday evening:
• Received three bids to do culvert work on Whitey B. Drive. They accepted the lowest bid, which was from DGR Excavating for about $93,800. They must complete the project by the end of May to receive grant money.
• Received one bid for work on Hell Hollow. It was from H&K Group for about $118,000. They have grant money to put toward this project.
• Discussed how some residents are not getting the mandatory permit to pave their driveways. The permit costs $50. The contractors know the permits are mandatory, but the residents do not, said supervisor Brian Ahner. Some paving companies are doing the work without having this permit.
• Supervisors announced that Western Pocono Women’s Club has given a $300 donation to the Polk Park and Recreation Commission. Chairman Robert Butler said that would be used for future events and park beautification.
• Voted 3-0 in favor of allowing Rebecca Tippett, township secretary, and Tracy Herman, zoning officer, attend a Community Planning course. The class will be held over three evenings.
