Aaliyah Rojas performs in spring choral concert

Aaliyah Rojas, of Albrightsville, took part in the Albright College “African American Tradition and Beyond” choral concert, March 2, in the college’s Memorial Chapel.

The concert was directed by Derrick Thompson, Ph.D. director of choral activities and assistant professor of music with Jeffrey Lentz and Karen Eddinger collaborating on piano.

The concert explored “a kaleidoscope of sounds, from the rhythmic chants of traditional South African folk songs to the soulful melodies of spirituals and gospel and from the improvisational brilliance of jazz to the electrifying rhythms of funk and blues,” said Thompson.

A graduate of Pocono Mountain West High School, Rojas is studying theatre at Albright and participated as an alto in Albright Chorale. Rojas is also choral librarian.
