Area schools excel at ACE competition

The 34th Annual Academic Challenge (ACE) Eighth Competition “The Kern Klassic” was recently held at Panther Valley Junior High School.

Teams from Catasauqua, Jim Thorpe, Lehighton, Northern Lehigh, Northwestern Lehigh, Palmerton, Panther Valley and Tamaqua took to the stage to showcase their academic knowledge in history, mathematics, literature, geography and science.

The double elimination ended with Northwestern Lehigh capturing the first place trophy after the 14th round competition left them undefeated.

The final round was Northern Lehigh against Northwestern Lehigh with a score of 22 to 51 giving Northern Lehigh the second place trophy.

Lehighton went home with the third place trophy after defeating Jim Thorpe with a score of 38 to 26. Therefore, Jim Thorpe earned the fourth place trophy.
