Concourse club hosts library event

The Concourse Club of Palmerton, in partnership with the Palmerton Area Library, is holding a cash Bingo fundraiser on Sunday, April 7 at the Aquashicola Fire Company.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the library. Doors will open for the event at noon, with game play, consisting of 20 regular bingo games and 5 special games, beginning at 1 p.m. Prizes for each regular game will be $50 and the special game prizes will range from $75 to $300. Additionally, there will be door prizes, a 50/50 drawing and food available for purchase.

“The library is the heart of our community,” says Carol Curcio, Concourse Club event chairperson. “The Concourse Club is committed to helping the library continue to raise the monies they need to realize their goals.” The library is currently undergoing a capital improvement program to raise funds for building improvements in addition to fundraising for their everyday operating expenses. “The library is so much more than just books. Many of our nonprofit groups utilize the building as a meeting place, and the library sponsors clubs featuring a wide range of interests to the community.”

“In order for us to sustain this variety of programs, we at the library, are actively engaging in many fundraising events,” says Library Director, Christine DeSousa. “The library is grateful for the community and Concourse Club’s involvement in our fundraising efforts. The prime mission of our organization is the community and with the community’s involvement we hope to continue to be a part of Palmerton’s historic and rich culture.” This bingo is one of many fundraising events the library is launching this year.

Advance tickets for the event are available for purchase during normal operating hours at the Palmerton Area Library while supplies last. If you are unable to make the event and would like to make a donation, mail or drop your check off to the Palmerton Area Library.
