Walker Township to bid out park project

Walker Township supervisors voted to approve the new layout for the Wildcat Park renovations.

Chad Felty, member of the park commission, showed the supervisors an artist rendition of what the new area will look like.

With the supervisors approving the layout, they will be able to put the work out for bid and hope to advertise it and receive bids before their April 4 meeting so they can open the bids then.

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, which is providing grant money for the project, has given Walker a preliminary approval.

Once it is bid out, supervisors will be able to be specific about the new equipment to be installed.

Previous work that was completed include resurfaced tennis, basketball and pickleball courts. The project has a budget of approximately $80,000. In addition to the resurfacing, the project includes replacing the swings and adding a new play structure. The current monkey bars, sliding board, and merry-go-round will stay. For Americans with Disabilities Act compliance, a handicapped parking space, paved pathways, and special swings will be added.
