State police at Lehighton

State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following:

• Police responded to a hit-and-run at 10:16 a.m. Feb. 24 on Interchange Road in Polk Township.

They said an unknown vehicle traveling north was negotiating a left-hand turn when the driver apparently initiated his brakes, causing skid marks on the road. The vehicle left the right side of the road and entered property at 220 Interchange Road, striking a man-made bridge, before leaving the scene by traveling north on the roadway.

• Police are investigating a theft by deception incident they were called to at 8:39 a.m. Feb. 23 at 1440 Hazelwood Road, Towamensing Township.

The 59-year-old Palmerton woman reported the possible fraud incident.

• Police were summoned to a retail theft at 655 Interchange Road, Polk Township, at 5:20 p.m. Feb. 22.

They said the business manager reported two white males entered the store and left it without ringing any of the items that they had put into the cart they were using. Police said the amount of the stolen merchandise has not been determined. They also said the store personnel was not able to capture a vehicle description or plate of the suspects since there are no cameras outside the store.

• Police responded to a suicide attempt involving a 13-year-old Kunkletown girl at 6:42 p.m. Feb. 21 at a property on Ash Lane in Polk Township.

They said the girl was taken to an area hospital for further evaluation.

Police said he was stopped in a 1991 Toyota Camry for numerous traffic violations, after which time police also learned there is a warrant out for his arrest in Ohio.

The man was taken into custody and transported to the police barracks where a drug influence evaluation was conducted and the man refused to submit to a chemical test.

• Police said $2,500 was stolen from the Raceway Gas – Ty’s Krispy Krunchy Chicken, 7605 Interchange Road, Towamensing Township.

The incident was reported to police at 12:45 a.m. Feb. 12. Police said two people entered the store and removed the cash from a skill game machine using an unknown object. They left the store and fled in a black, heavily-tinted BMW that had the Pennsylvania license plate MKA1049.

• Police said the mother of an 11-year-old Effort boy brought him to the barracks on Feb 12 to report he is being harassed at school.

The matter was referred to the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office where, police said, an assistant district attorney, declined to prosecute the case.

• Police said a 34-year-old Kunkletown man is the victim of a theft incident they responded to at 12:46 a.m. Feb. 9 at a property on Acorn Drive, Polk Township.

Police said he told them a Samsung Galaxy cellphone valued at $500 was stolen off his porch by an unknown actor after it was delivered by a Fed-Ex driver.

• Police responded to a criminal mischief incident that was reported to have happened between midnight and 9 a.m. on Feb. 1 at 400 Joseph Lane, East Penn Township.

An Allentown man told police the tires on his vehicle were slashed multiple times.
