The Lehighton Area Chamber of Commerce named Mrs. Myrtle (Hagenbuch) Rex of Lehighton as its recipient of its annual “Man” of the Year award during its dinner-meeting held Saturday at the Mahoning Valley Country Club.

The honoree is the wife of Roy Rex, a retired Lehigh Valley Railroad electrician. She is the mother of two sons and a daughter.

She was selected as the person who “makes Lehighton a better place in which to live, work and play, and has been outstanding in virtually every worthwhile activity this town is proud of,” according to then citation she received.

Mrs. Rex has been a member of the Lehighton Garden Club for 26 years, having served as its president for 15 of those years.
