The Pennsylvania Power and Light Company plans to build a one-story, 5,500-square-foot service facility at the west end of Coaldale.

The 6.9-acre site, known as Manila Grove at Phillips and Bull Run streets, is just west of the Coaldale State General Hospital. It has 585 feet of frontage on Route 209.

According to Frank E. Jedlicka, Hazleton district manager for the utility, the new center will contain line crew quarters, a storeroom for line construction materials and a garage for service vehicles.

Line crews presently headquartered at the company’s substation on East Ridge Street in Lansford, and crews at the Tamaqua substation, under area foreman David Foster, will be housed in the new facility.
