Coroner releases identities in Northampton Co. fatalities

Three people died in separate incidents that happened last Saturday and this week in Northampton County, according to county Coroner Zachary R. Lysek.

The initial fatality occurred on Saturday, Jan. 27, in Hellertown borough and involved a pedestrian.

Lysek said Michael A. Vincovitch Jr., 87, of Nazareth, died after being struck by a vehicle that evening in the 1100 block of Main Street. He was transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital, where he died. The coroner said death was caused by blunt force head trauma.

The other two fatalities happened on Tuesday.

Lysek said Andrew D. Mitchell, 31, of Bethlehem, was transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus, Easton, after a crash that evening at the intersection of Newburg Road and West Mayfield Circle in Lower Nazareth Township. Police said he was the driver of a vehicle involved in the crash.

His death was attributed to blunt force injuries to the torso, Lysek said.

The third fatality happened that evening in the parking lot of the Weis Market on the William Penn Highway in Palmer Township, claiming the life of Joseph R. Hoagland, 68, of Wilson. Police said he was the driver of a vehicle involved in the incident. He was transported to the Anderson Campus where he died the following day.

Lysek said his death was attributed to blunt force injuries to his chest after he suffered a medical emergency that led to the crash.
