Orefield man dies after Lehigh crash

An Orefield man died Monday in a two-vehicle crash at 10:41 a.m. on Hamilton Boulevard in Lower Macungie Township.

State police at the Fogelsville barracks said John H. Milliman, 91, died in the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township, where he was transported by personnel from the Cetronia Ambulance.

He was a passenger in a 2921 BMW driven by Linda F. Milliman, 65, also of Orefield. Police said she sustained suspected serious injuries and was transported be personnel from the Macungie Ambulance Corps to the LVH.

Police said the crash took place when a tractor trailer driven by Samuel P. Dobbins, 69, of Burlington, New Jersey, was traveling north while the BMW was southbound in the left turning lane. They said as the BMW made a left turn across Hamilton Boulevard onto Kressler Road, the rig struck it at the two o’clock position. The car rotated 90 degrees and came to rest near the center median.

Dobbins was uninjured in the crash.

Police said any witnesses to the crash are asked to contact them at their barracks.

Police were also assisted at the scene by personnel from the Wescosville Fire Company, Macungie Fire Department, Lower Macungie Fire and Rescue squad and numerous PennDOT workers. Additional, resources assisting were from the Troop M CARS Unit, the troop’s Forensic Services Unit and local towing services.

Police said Linda Milliman was cited for a left turn violation.
