Carbon County President Judge Roger N. Nanovic on Tuesday accepted guilty pleas and accepted three people into a special judicial program.

Lynn Rehrig, 57, Lehighton, was charged by Mahoning Township Police Officer Tyler J. Meek with theft by unlawful taking and unauthorized use of an access device on Dec. 12, 2022.

She admitted to the theft charge; the remaining charge was dropped.

Judge Nanovic ordered her to repay St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mahoning Township, $2,870.48; pay court costs, serve two years on probation; pay a $100 LiveScan fee, and a $50 monthly supervision fee; submit a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee; and obtain a mental health evaluation.

Luis D. Rivera, 25, Lansford, was charged by Nesquehoning Police Officer Timothy R. Wuttke with the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on Nov. 19, 2020.

He admitted to the crime, and Judge Nanovic ordered him to pay court costs; a $100 LiveScan fee, and a $50 monthly supervision fee; serve six months on probation, and submit a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee.

Osvaldo Ortiz Bernier, 53, Coal Township, Schuylkill County, was charged by Lansford Police Officer Callen J. Rich with flight to avoid apprehension and evading arrest on March 24, 2023.

He admitted to the evading charge, and Judge Nanovic ordered him to pay court costs; a $100 LiveScan fee, and a $50 monthly supervision fee; serve one to 12 months in jail, to be served concurrently with all other cases; and to obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Brandin Lee Brong, 33, currently an inmate at the State Correctional Institution at Rockview, was charged by Mahoning Township Police Chief Audie M. Mertz with illegal possession of a firearm; altering the identification mark; carrying a firearm without a license; accident involving damage to an attended vehicle or property; driving with a suspended license; possession of a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; failing to stop and give information or render aid; careless driving; speeding; and failing to keep right on Nov. 8, 2021.

He admitted to altering the identification mark.

Judge Nanovic ordered him to serve two to five years in state prison, to be served concurrently with any other sentence; pay court costs and a $100 LiveScan fee; submit a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee; and to obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Stephen Keith Terry, 27, Lansford, was charged by Lehighton State Trooper Charles P. Inserra with simple assault; resisting arrest; criminal mischief; disorderly conduct; driving under the influence, first offense; two counts of harassment; and public drunkenness on April 16, 2023.

He admitted to criminal mischief and public drunkenness. The remaining charges were dropped.

On the mischief charge, Judge Nanovic ordered Terry to pay court costs and a $100 LiveScan fee and a $50 monthly supervision fee; serve 16 days to one year in jail, with 16 days’ credit; remain under the supervision of the county Adult Probation and Parole Department; and have no contact with the victim.

On the public drunkenness charge, Judge Nanovic fined Terry $500.

Timothy Manuel Morales Jr., 31, Allentown, Lehigh County, was charged by Summit Hill Police Officer Christopher P. Fischi III with criminal mischief, criminal trespass, and possession of drug paraphernalia on June 4, 2023.

He admitted to the mischief charge. The remaining charges were dropped.

Judge Nanovic ordered him to pay court costs, a $50 monthly supervision fee, and a $100 LiveScan fee; to repay Paul McArdle/Summit Hill Fire Co. $627; and serve six months on probation.

Craig Alan Hull, 64, Lehighton, was charged by Mahoning Township Police Chief Audie M. Mertz with a felony count of flight to avoid apprehension and misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia on Jan. 31, 2023.

He pleaded guilty to the resisting arrest and drug possession charges. The flight charge was dropped.

Judge Nanovic sentenced Hull to serve six months to one year in jail, with credit for 301 days already served. He’ll be under the supervision of the county Department of Probation and Parole.

He also ordered Hull to pay court costs; a $50 monthly supervision fee and to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation.

In another case, Mahoning Township Police Officer Amie L. Barclay charged Hull with retail theft and theft by unlawful taking on July 8, 2019.

He admitted to the theft by unlawful taking charge; the retail theft charge was dropped.

Judge Nanovic ordered him to pay court costs; a $100 LiveScan fee; a $50 monthly supervision fee; repay $895 to the Tractor Supply store in Lehighton; serve one year less one day to two years less one day in jail, with 91 days’ credit; and to submit a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee.

Leroy Edwin Hahn III, 38, Lehighton, was charged by Lehighton State Trooper Alexander Z. Rankovich with fleeing a police officer; flight to avoid apprehension; speeding; careless driving; disregarding traffic lanes; littering; displaying a plate card on an improper vehicle; driving while his license was suspended or revoked, and using an improper class of license on May 5, 2023.

He pleaded guilty to the flight and suspended license charges; the remaining charges were dropped.

Judge Nanovic sentenced Hahn to serve two months to two years less one day in jail, with credit for the 140 days he’s already served on the flight charge.

Hahn may be released on parole after he has served the minimum amount of time. He’ll be under the supervision of the county Department of Probation and Parole.

Nanovic also ordered Hahn to pay court costs; a $50 monthly supervision fee and to submit a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee.

On the license charge, Judge Nanovic fined Hahn $200.

In a separate case, Hahn was charged by Lehighton State Trooper Sarah E. Nebzydoski with a felony count of aggravated assault, and misdemeanor counts of simple assault, evading arrest and resisting arrest on July 12, 2023.

He pleaded guilty to the evading charge, and Judge Nanovic ordered him to pay court costs, a $100 LiveScan fee, to serve two months to one day less than two years in jail, to be served at the same time as the other sentence. Judge Nanovic also gave him credit for 111 days he’s already served for this case.

William Cook, 32, of Seltzer, Schuylkill County, was charged by Mahoning Township Police Officer Amie L. Barclay with retail theft and defiant trespass on Aug. 7, 2020.

He pleaded guilty to the theft charge.

Judge Nanovic ordered him to pay court costs; a $100 LiveScan fee; a $50 monthly supervision fee; serve two years on probation; submit a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee; obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation, and to stay away from the Mahoning Township Walmart store.

Allen Scott Bauder, 39, Andreas, was charged by Carbon County Sheriff’s Deputy Tyler J. Deitz with failing to appear for a court hearing on Aug. 26, 2022.

He pleaded guilty, and Judge Nanovic to serve from one to 12 months in jail, with credit for 50 days he’s already served.

Judge Nanovic also ordered Bauder to obtain psychological and drug and alcohol evaluations.

His sentence will be served at the same time as one for a second case.

In that case, Bauder was charged by Lehighton State Trooper Gary N. Fedor with conspiracy to commit forgery; receiving stolen property; theft; and forgery on Oct. 20, 2021.

Bauder admitted to the conspiracy charge, and Judge Nanovic sentenced him to repay $720 to Jim Thorpe National Bank; pay a $100 LiveScan fee and a $50 monthly supervision fee; serve three months to one day less than two years in jail, with 23 days’ credit.

The remaining charges were dropped.

Judge Nanovic also ordered him to psychological, neurological, and drug and alcohol evaluations.

In yet another third case, Bauder was charged by Lehighton Borough Police Officer Jason E. Pryce Jr. with fleeing a police officer; recklessly endangering another person; failing to obey a stop sign; reckless driving; and not using his turn signal on March 30, 2023.

He pleaded guilty to the flight charge. The remaining chargers were dropped.

Judge Nanovic ordered him to pay court costs; a $100 LiveScan fee; a $50 monthly supervision fee; serve three months to one day less than two years in jail, with 219 days’ credit, to be served concurrently with the other cases; and to obtain the psychological, neurological, and drug and alcohol evaluations.

Joshua Robert Tessitore, 37, Lansford, was charged by borough Police Officer Shawn M. Nunemacher with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia on Feb. 16, 2022.

He admitted to the paraphernalia charge; the other charge was dropped.

Judge Nanovic sentenced him to serve 30 days to one year in jail, with credit for 232 days served. The sentence is concurrent to other county cases.

Tessitore also was ordered to pay court costs; a $100 LiveScan fee; a $50 monthly supervision fee; and to obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Paige Abel, 22, Lansford, was charged by borough Police Officer Robert T. Lilly with possession of drug paraphernalia on April 29, 2022.

She admitted to the crime, and Judge Nanovic ordered her to serve one year on probation; pay court costs; a $100 LiveScan fee; a $50 monthly supervision fee; and to obtain drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations.
