Lehighton man faces another set of stalking charges

A Lehighton man with a history of stalking has once again been charged with the offense.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by patrolman Ivan Centeno of the Lehighton Borough Police Department in the case against Derek Hedmeck:

At around 11:05 p.m. Centeno was dispatched to the 300 block of South Ninth Street for a stalking complaint.

Centeno was told that Hedmeck, 34, was at the residence in a vehicle behind the residence on Birch Alley.

Police said Hedmeck had been charged numerous times for similar offenses and was not supposed to have contact with the woman involved in the case.

Police determined that Hedmeck had followed the woman and her companion in their vehicle about six blocks, before they pulled into the back of the residence on South Ninth Street.

Hedmeck confronted the couple and the woman said that Hedmeck dropped something onto the ground by the driver side door.

When the undercarriage of the vehicle was searched, a black folding knife was located. It was also determined the vehicle registration Hedmeck drove to the residence was expired as of August.

Hedmeck faces charges on two counts of stalking, and one count each of harassment, loitering, disorderly conduct, and registration and certificate of title required.

Hedmeck is in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 cash bail, and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Nov. 15 before District Judge Eric M. Schrantz of Jim Thorpe.
