A former intern has been hired as the new executive director of the Northern Lehigh Recreation Authority, it was announced Monday evening at the Slatington Borough Council meeting.

Dave Schnaars, the chairman representing the Borough of Slatington on the recreation authority, introduced Kasey Taylor as the new executive director.

Taylor, who was an intern at the recreation authority in the summer of 2021, graduated from York College of Pennsylvania with a degree in Recreation.

“I am happy to return to the community and come back into the department and show everyone what I can do, and am looking forward to working with the community,” Taylor said.

Schnaars said there were five candidates for the position.

Taylor will start Nov. 1 and work for two months with the current executive director, Lindsay L. Taylor, who is retiring at the end of the year.
