Yenser’s building plans advance in Mahoning Twp.

A Mahoning Township board of supervisors has granted conditional approval to land development plans for Yenser’s Tree Farm.

Yenser’s posted on its Facebook page that it plans to build a new 4,600-square-foot climate controlled building.

The building will be known as Valley View at Yenser’s, and be home to its Sunflower Festival, Fall Fest, and Choose and Cut Christmas Trees.

It will be located on the property at 1910 Mahoning Drive East, and will also serve as a venue for weddings, parties, and banquets.

Ryan and Jan Wentz, owners of Yenser’s Tree Farm, told supervisors in February that their business has outgrown its setup, selling products out of its garage.

The pole building will be in the field to the left on the western part of their property on the opposite side of the house.

The couple said they’ve been working out of their garage, selling products such as pumpkins, Christmas trees, sunflowers and wreaths for its festivals.

Once the building is in place, they plan to open three seasons.

The couple plans to add a commercial kitchen that would be open during its festivals to sale food such as hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken fingers, and apple cider doughnuts, plus beverages such as soda, apple cider and a slushie machine.

The purpose of the commercial kitchen, the couple said, is so the business does not have to be dependent on food trucks.

However, to use the space other than that, people would have to rent the place from them in the offseason for events such as birthday parties, anniversary parties, weddings and banquets.

Jan Wentz said the farm started in 1971, and they are the third generation.
