Carbon moves forward on roof replacement

Carbon County is moving forward on a roof replacement project in Lehighton.

On Thursday, the board of commissioners authorized the advertisement for the invitation to bid for a roof replacement at the Lehighton Recreation Center/Senior Center. The county is overseeing the bidding process because Community Development Block Grant funds, which the county oversees, is being used for the project.

Bids will be received until 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 18 at the office of the county controller, 2 Hazard Square, Carbon County Administration Building, P.O. Box 59, Jim Thorpe, PA 18229.

All bids will then be publicly opened and read at the regular meeting of the Carbon County Commissioners at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 21.

Those wishing to receive bid documents can contact the Carbon County Office of Planning and Development.

Lehighton has been working on this project since 2019.

In June, borough council had its engineer Remington Vernick prepare the bid specs for the replacement and in July moved on starting the bid process.
