A home in the village of Hauto was destroyed by a fast moving fire Friday afternoon. The blaze was reported shortly after noon at 6 Laurel street just north of Route 54.

Firefighters report the dwelling was fully involved when they arrived some making an all out effort to save numerous pets reported to be in the burning home.

All three Nesquehoning fire companies, as well as Jim Thorpe and Lansford were called out. When crews arrived, smoke and flames were seen from rear of the structure.

An official cause of the fire has not been released.

Route 54 was closed for several hours.
