TURNPIKE CRASHES

State police at Pocono reported on the following crashes on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:

• A crash happened at 2:22 a.m. May 28 at mile marker 76.4 in Franklin Township. Police said Damon G. Lowney, 35, of Baltimore, Maryland, was driving a 2015 Volkswagen Golf northbound when a deer entered the travel lane and Lowney was unable to stop in time.

The car sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

The driver declined the need for EMS/hospital treatment and evaluation at the scene.

• Another crash took place at 5:15 a.m. May 30 at mile marker 59.6 in South Whitehall Township.

Police said Elwood G. Reed, 64, of Lehighton, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado southbound when the deer entered the travel lane and Reed was unable to stop in time.

The vehicle sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

The driver declined the need for EMS/hospital treatment and evaluation at the scene.

• A crash happened at 1:03 a.m. May 28 at mile marker 77.8 in Franklin Township. Police said Allen A. Frazier, 38, of Williamsport, was driving a 2020 Hyundai Elantra northbound and attempted to pass an unknown vehicle when the operator of the latter vehicle swerved into Frazier’s lane of travel.

Police said Frazier’s vehicle went partially under the unknown vehicle after being struck.

They said the driver of the unknown vehicle pulled over but then fled the scene.

Frazier and three passengers with him all escaped injuries in the incident.

• Ricky J. Christian, 44, of Bear Creek Township, was not hurt when the car he was driving hit a deer on May 5.

Police said it happened at mile marker 73.2 in East Penn Township. Christian was driving a 2015 Audi.
