Lockdown lifted at Panther Valley

The Panther Valley Junior Senior High School went on lockdown Friday morning for 35 minutes, as a state police canine drug unit and administrators conducted a sweep of the building.

All staff and students were in their classrooms behind closed doors, continuing instruction during the operation, Superintendent David McAndrew Jr. said Friday.

The lockdown lasted from 9:05 a.m. to 9:40 a.m., and staff and students continued with their day, he said.

There was no risk to any of the staff or students in the building, McAndrew said.

“We want to thank the Pennsylvania State Police, staff and students at the Junior Senior High School for assisting the Panther Valley School District in this matter,” he said.
