Joshua M. Merlino, 19, of Springfield, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 7:28 p.m. April 7 on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

It happened near mile marker 79.1 in Franklin Township. Merlino was uninjured.

Police said he was southbound in a 2019 Nissan Altima and was negotiating a left curve when the car swerved onto the shoulder of the road, returned to the roadway and struck a center concrete barrier head-on.

It came to rest on the southbound shoulder against the guide rail.
