Wittig to return as TASB president

Larry Wittig will again serve as president of the Tamaqua Area School District’s Board of Education.

His position was approved during Tuesday’s reorganization meeting.

Other roles will also remain the same, with Nicholas Boyle retaining the seat as board vice president, and no changes made to the leadership or membership of special committees.

Director Mark Rother nominated Wittig to the position and directors voted unanimously in favor. Director Melanie Dillman was absent.

Wittig’s nomination of Boyle was also unanimously approved. Both will serve 1-year terms.

Wittig asked if directors were content to continue serving on the same committees as they had this year. With no dissent, no changes were made.

The board will keep meeting dates the same. Committee meetings will begin at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month. Regular voting meetings will be at 7:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month.
