Jim Thorpe’s grad Searfoss earns CACC Player of the Week honor for Holy Family

Jim Thorpe graduate Skyler Searfoss recently won the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Week award for Holy Family University after a week that included a 38-point outburst in an overtime triumph over regionally-ranked Lincoln on Nov. 25.

Those 38 points are tied for the most in Division 2 this season, highlighting a week in which she averaged 21.3 points on 57.5% shooting (23-of-40), and made 17-of-22 free throws (77.3%). She added 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.3 assists per contest.

After beginning the week with a team-high 14 points and game-high six steals in an overtime loss at Bloomsburg Nov. 21, Searfoss was an efficient 12-of-15 from the floor and 14-of-17 from the foul line in the win over Lincoln.

The freshman then led Holy Family with 12 points, six rebounds and three assists against Minnesota State Moorhead on Nov. 26, before also scoring 12 points in a 76-71 win over Georgian Court on Nov. 30.

In eight games this season, Searfoss is averaging a team-leading 15.1 points per game on 50% shooting (40-for-80) to go along with 3.3 rebounds per game, 2.6 assists, and 2.1 steals.

All of that follows on the heels of an outstanding high school where Searfoss was selected to the All-State team all four years of her career – twice a third team selection and twice a second team honoree – while at Jim Thorpe. She was also named the Lehigh Valley Health Network/Times News Girls Basketball Player of the Year as a senior for the third time, and was part of the Times News Girls Basketball All Star Team all four years of her career.

She finished her career at Jim Thorpe as the school’s second all-time leading scorer with 1,787 career points. She averaged 14.1 points per game as a senior, helping the Olympians win both a Schuylkill League and District 11 Class 4A titles and advance to the PIAA semifinals.
