Marian plans for 2022 Homecoming celebration

Marian Catholic High School, Hometown, has announced plans for the 2022 Homecoming celebration that will take place on Saturday.

Alumni, families and friends are invited to join the school community in daylong festivities that will begin as early as 9 a.m. and culminate when the Colts’ gridiron team plays host to the Shenandoah Valley Blue Devils at 7 p.m.

At halftime of the game, the 2022 Homecoming Queen and King will be named.

For the second year in a row, Marian officials have moved the Homecoming game to a Saturday in order to accommodate alumni who want to travel from out-of-the-area to attend the festivities, as opposed to having to cram their schedules to travel distances for a Friday game, Brennan said.

The daylong festivities will kick off with a cross-country/track and field Alumni, Friends & Kid’s Fun Run/Walk at 9 a.m., followed by a boys’ soccer game against Weatherly Area at 10:30.

Starting at 11 o’clock, a tri-meet volleyball matchup will be hosted by the Fillies’ net team, after which time a girls’ soccer game vs. Weatherly will follow at 12:30.

Alumni and friends will be able to tour the Marian facilities between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m.

At 5:30, the Marian Alumni Association will host a “happy hour” at Basile’s Restaurant, 401 Claremont Avenue, Hometown, offering hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. A $10 cover charge is being asked this year to help defray the expenses of the event. Persons planning to attend the “happy hour” are asked to RSVP at alumni@mariancatholichs.org.

The school’s Advancement Office, headed by newly-named director Erin Marek, will host an alumni tent at the campus from 6:30 p.m. until halftime of the game.

For information on any of the events, contact the Advancement Office at 570-467-3335, extension 115.

Members of the 2022 Marian Catholic High School Homecoming Court include, front, from left, Jaclyn Guth, Taylor Ryba, Rebecca Boyle, Megan Paisley and Jenna Goff; and back, Joseph Walko, Alexander Cornmesser, Frank Valente, Rawlin Melendez and Matthew Zakrewsky. The king and queen will be selected on Saturday night when the Colts host the Shenandoah Valley Blue Devils at the Men of Marian Stadium in Hometown. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO
