Kidder Township chairman resigns; solar farm hearing to be held

Kidder Township’s supervisors board chairman Thomas Bradley resigned in August.

Bradley, who served on the board since 2006, missed July’s meeting and his letter of resignation was received before the Aug. 23 meeting. At that meeting, the supervisors accepted his resignation.

Bradley’s term runs through 2023.

Any Kidder Township resident interested in serving out his term must send a letter of interest stating qualifications and why they would be a good supervisor to township manager Suzanne Brooks or bring it in to the municipal office. The mailing address is Kidder Township, P.O. Box 576, Lake Harmony, Pa., 18624. Candidates will be considered at the Sept. 27 regular meeting, so those interested should attend.

Vice chairman Ray Gluck ran the August meeting.

Patrolman Mason Moran was approved to join the Kidder Police Department full-time as of Aug. 21.

Brooks was added to the agreement for the maintenance of traffic signals. This gives her the authority to get the signal emitters installed for the fire companies. The emitters allow responding fire trucks to control the signals as the trucks approach the intersections.

Several families who live on Laurel Lane in Albrightsville complained about being harassed by “squatters” who are on a property at the end of their road. They have added sheds, a hunting stand, and an old school bus.

The residents said the people are out shooting guns, exploding fireworks including quarter sticks, and harassing neighbors with foul language, often from ATVs as they drive past their homes on Laurel Lane.

One resident said it’s getting worse and they all fear retribution.

Gluck said officials are working through the processes in order to take action. Residents were should continue to call 9-1-1.

A lakefront property owner complained of having three short-term-rental properties full on a recent weekend. He said there were about 80 people between the three. They were noisy and rude, launched fireworks, and more, he said. He called 9-1-1 twice and said violation notices are being sent.

Lake Harmony Volunteer Fire Company Chief Ralph Lennon is concerned about low water pressure in the Split Rock water system. He said residents told him the water tanks are only half full. He said hydrants may not work when needed. The system is within a private community, so the township has limited authority.
