Five defendants in pending criminal cases were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Thursday by Judge Joseph J. Matika.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record will be wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete the conditions, or are revoked from the program, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.

Stephanie Ann Gombert, 34, of Lehighton, was placed for a year on eight counts including corruption of a minor, three simple assault, three criminal solicitation- simple assault and disorderly conduct.

She was charged by Franklin Township police with allegedly soliciting juveniles at the Carbon Career & Technical Institute, where she was employed, to assault another juvenile at the facility.

She was assessed $450 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and have no contact with the victim.

Khaled Bin Husain, 42, of Palmerton, was placed in the program for two years in two separate cases. The charges in the first case are conspiracy - possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and in the second case charge of defiant trespass and contempt for violation of order or agreement.

He was charged for incidents in the 400 block of Lehigh Avenue, on April 24, 2021, and Sept. 2, 2021, filed by Palmerton police.

He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 100 hours of community service and stay off the Lehigh Avenue premises.

Crystal Bornell, 39, of East Orange, New Jersey, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana. She was arrested on Sept 23, 2020, by state police at Fern Ridge along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township following a vehicle stop.

She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

Ashley M. Lewis,Erin Francis Bloodgood, 40, of Albrightsville, was placed for a year on a charge of DUI of alcohol. She was arrested on May 1, 2020, by state police at Fern Ridge along Meckesville Road in Penn Forest Township. A test revealed a 0.21 BAC.

She was assessed $650 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and license suspended for 60 days.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of over $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
