A Schuylkill County doctor was charged this week with sexual assault related counts involving patients and employees.

State police at Schuylkill Haven filed charges on Monday against Dr. Scott Miller Parkinson, DMD, 58, of Orwigsburg. Parkinson is a cosmetic dentist who maintains an office along East Laurel Street in Tremont.

According to troopers on July 21 they opened an investigation after information was received that Parkinson has been engaging in sexual misconduct with patients and employees.

The investigation uncovered that Parkinson was inappropriately touching his female employees and patients without their consent. Troopers said multiple victims have been identified and the investigation is continuing.

He was arraigned before District Judge David J. Rossi, of Tremont, on a felony 3 count of sexual extortion-engage in sexual conduct/nudity; and two misdemeanor counts of indecent assault, one count of indecent exposure and two summary counts of harassment.

Parkinson posted $25,000 bail and was released.

Troopers said they believe that this behavior has been ongoing for a considerable amount of time and suspects that Parkinson may have additional victims. Troopers are asking that anyone who may have additional information regarding similar conduct to contact them at 570-754-4600.
