Schuylkill County court

Schuylkill County Judge Charles M. Miller has handed down punishments in cases involving three people charged by local police.

James J. McDonald, 43, of Coaldale, was charged by Tamaqua Police Officer Karl L. Harig with driving under the influence, first offense; driving under the influence: highest rate of alcohol (BAC 0.16+) first offense; and failing to keep right on Aug. 25, 2021.

Judge Miller sentenced him to six months on probation on the DUI highest rate charge and fined him $1,000.

He was ordered to successfully complete the Alcohol Highway Safety School; pay $100 to the Substance Abuse Education fund; and pay the costs of prosecution.

McDonald’s license is suspended for 12 months, and he must perform 10 hours of community service.

Miller fined him $25 on the failure to keep right charge. The general DUI charge was dropped.

Anna Marie Peddigree, 28, of Lehighton, was charged by West Penn Township Police Chief James E. Bonner with stalking, disorderly conduct engage in fighting, and reckless driving on July 20, 2021.

Miller accepted her into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program for 18 months.

Entry into the program is not an admission of guilt, and defendants’ records may be cleared if they successfully complete the program.

Miller ordered her to pay $50 a month for the cost of supervision, and $350 to defray the cost of the program.

Peddigree must also complete 10 hours of community service. The reckless driving charge was dropped.

Kevin Kaufman, 30, of Pottsville, was charged by Tamaqua Police Chief Michael J. Hobbs with terroristic threats and harassment on Aug, 25, 2021.

Miller accepted him into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program for 12 months.

Kaufman must also complete 10 hours of community service.

The harassment charge was dropped.
