Annual Duck Race returns

The Tamaqua Fire Police will hold its Annual Duck Race on Father’s Day, June 19, during Tamaqua’s Summerfest.

The fundraiser was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizers said they will honor tickets that were purchased prior to the cancellations.

Tickets are $5 each and are being sold throughout the area. Each ticket “buys” a yellow rubber duck that will be placed in the Little Schuylkill River at the Elm Street bridge around 3 p.m. The ducks will “race” to the finish line just south of the Cedar Street bridge near Boyer’s.

Each duck has a number that corresponds to a ticket.

A number of prizes will be awarded.

The Tamaqua Fire Police thanked this year’s sponsor Mauch Chunk Trust Co. for its support.

For ticket sales or more information, call 570-810-1649.
