CCTI shows support for military children

Carbon Career & Technical Institute administration, faculty, staff and students showed their support by wearing purple Thursday thanking military youth for their strength and sacrifices, and support to succeed in their mobile military lifestyle.

April is designated as the Month of the Military Child, underscoring the important role military children play in the armed forces community. Sponsored by the Department of Defense Military Community and Family Policy, the Month of the Military Child is a time to applaud military families and their children for the daily sacrifices and the challenges they overcome.

The 2021-2022 school year is the 75th anniversary of the founding of Department of Defense Education Activity, and this year we also celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Month of the Military Child.

Department of Defense Education Activity joins the Department of Defense and the military community in celebrating April as the Month of the Military Child.

In Department of Defense Education Activity communities worldwide, our most essential strategic imperatives are establishing an educational system that progressively builds the college and career readiness of all Department of Defense Education Activity students and establishing the organizational capacity to operate more effectively and efficiently as a model, unified school system.

Each student is challenged to maximize their potential and excel academically, socially, emotionally and physically for life, college and career readiness.

The significance of wearing purple for military kids for “Purple Up Day” is to signify the combination of all military branches into one.

The Air Force, Coast Guard, and Navy all wear shades of blue in their dress uniforms. The Army wears green, and the Marines often wear red.

When mixed, green, blue, and red, depending on the amount of each, you’ll likely end up with some shade of purple.
