Senior Center

The Panther Valley Senior Center has announced upcoming events:

Chair Exercise on March 28 at 10:30 a.m. followed by Games at 11 a.m.; Bingo on March 29 at 10:45 a.m., Horse Racing on March 30 at 11 a.m.; Po-Keeno on March 31 at 11 a.m.; Now You Have It Now You Don’t on April 1 at 11 a.m.

Pool, Skeeball, Cards, Games and Socialization available every day. New members always welcome.

Spaghetti dinner

There will be a St. Joseph spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 27 in Madonna Hall, located directly behind the Shrine of St. Therese in New Columbus, Nesquehoning.

The meal includes spaghetti, meatballs, salad, bread and a dessert.

This is a takeout only event that benefits the Shrine of St. Therese. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

St. Joseph Parish

St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley in Summit Hill is hosting a Lenten soup and unbaked pizza sale.

This is a pre-order and takeout event. Orders are due no later than March 27.

Items for sale include vegetable soup, creme of broccoli, Manhattan clam chowder and unbaked pizza.

Items can be picked up from 3-6 p.m. on April 1 in the St. Joseph Social Hall, 462 W. Ludlow St., Summit Hill.

Library

The Panther Valley public library has started its spring session of Preschool Story hour. The program is held from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesdays in the library. All preschool children are welcome to attend. This program is free. The group will read a story, do a craft and have a light snack.

Summit Hill cleanup

Summit Hill Borough will hold a spring cleanup on the following days:

• April 2, the East side of town along with Knepper’s Trailer Court and East and West White Bear Drive will be picked up.

• April 9, the West side of town along with Laurel Drive and East and West Mountaintop Road will be picked up.

Items to be picked up include: tires (no more than four), tire rims, auto body parts, refrigerators, freezers, vending machines, dehumidifiers, water coolers, heat pumps, washers, dryers and stoves.

All items shall have all chemicals removed and doors taken off. Freon must be removed from refrigerators, air conditioners, etc. and tagged or they will not take them. In addition, up to 10 bags of garbage will be collected.

Anyone placing tires out for cleanup must have an attached label from the borough office indicating the resident has registered the tire pickup ahead of time.

Electronics recycling will be held on April 23.
