2 report scams totaling $100,000

Two Lehigh County residents were scammed out of large amounts of money, state police reported.

State police at Fogelsville said on Jan. 5 at noon a 41-year-old man from Allentown reported that he invested money with a company which turned out to be fraudulent involving cryptocurrency. The money lost by the victim was reported as $80,000.

State police at Bethlehem reported on Jan. 11 a 67-year-old man from Slatington reported he received a phone call claiming the caller was Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. He was told he won the state lottery. and to claim his prize he had to send over gift cards. The victim sent numerous gift cards of various amounts totaling $20,000. He never received any winnings.
