Carbon County court — DUI

A Lehighton woman recently entered guilty pleas in five pending criminal cases, including four counts of driving under the influence.

She was one of 10 defendants in pending DUI-related cases to plea before Judge Steven R. Serfass.

PSP stops

Breonna Leiby, 20, was stopped four times for DUI by state police at Lehighton. The stops occurred on Jan. 12 and 16, and March 8 and 12. She also pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. In that case troopers stopped a vehicle on March 17 and she was a passenger in the vehicle.

Serfass told Leiby, under state sentencing guidelines, she faces a prison term of somewhere between 18 and 84 months plus fines and license suspensions.

Serfass deferred sentencing so Leiby can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation and also apply for placement in the house arrest program.
