Walnutport man charged with repeated sexual assault

A Walnutport man has been charged with the repeated sexual assault of a teenage girl over the past seven years.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Detective Matthew Enstrom of the Lehigh Township Police Department in the case against Dale Seibert:

On July 20, Enstrom received a referral from a caseworker from Northampton County Children, Youth and Family Services from a girl who reported a relative, Seibert, 49, has been sexually abusing her over the last seven years.

At 1:05 p.m. July 27, Enstrom attended interviews with a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old at the Northampton County Children & Youth Office in Bethlehem.

The 14-year-old said the incidents began when she was about 7 years old and continued until she was 14.

A 12-year-old told police incidents occurred in Walnutport when she was around 9 to 10 years old.

On Aug. 9, Cpl. Richard Webb, PSP Polygraph Examiner, Troop M Bethlehem Barracks, conducted a polygraph test with Seibert, which picked up that he was lying.

At the conclusion of the polygraph, Webb interviewed Seibert and he admitted touching the 14-year-old inappropriately.

The 14-year-old said that after watching the series “13 Reasons Why,” and seeing the part where one of the actors talks about being raped, she text messaged on online social worker about the sexual abuse.

Seibert faces charges on two counts each of endangering welfare of children and corruption of minors; and one count each of corruption of minors, indecent assault, indecent assault without consent of other, and indecent exposure.

He is currently incarcerated in the Northampton County Prison in lieu of $100,000 straight bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Dec. 2 before District Judge Robert A. Hawke of Walnutport.
