Lehighton Lions Club carnival set for 3-day run starting Thursday

The second annual Lehighton Area Lioness Lions Club’s Spring Carnival will embark on its three-day run Thursday through Saturday at the Lehighton grove. Hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday.

There will be food, live bands, basket raffles, rides, games, bicycle raffle, vendors and more.

Live music will consist of Jeni Hackett on Thursday; Good Friday on Friday; and The Buzz on Saturday.

Bob Silliman, event cochair, said the carnival figures to once again be a popular family attraction.

“It’s an old-fashioned carnival with a lot of extra vendors, good things to eat,” Silliman said. “Come on out, see your friends and neighbors.”

Silliman said the carnival comes at a time when everyone’s eager to get out.

“Everybody should bring their own lawn chairs, have something great to eat,” he said. “Bring the kids to go on the rides by M & M Amusements.”

Silliman said Dale’s Concessions will also have a stand with french fries and ice cream.

He said they will be giving two bicycles away at 7 p.m. Thursday, which is Children’s Day.

The bicycles are being sponsored by M & M Amusements and Dale’s Concessions, said Silliman, who added kids can get a free ticket from 6 to 7 p.m.

In addition, he said there will be a basket raffle all three days, with the drawing taking place on Saturday, though the winner need not be present.

“It helps us earn funds. Everything we make goes back to the community or other projects that benefit the community,” Silliman said. “We donate 100% of our proceeds.”
