Carbon County court

A Tamaqua man entered a guilty plea to a corruption charge in Carbon County court on Monday.

He was one of seven defendants in pending criminal cases to enter a plea before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

East Penn incident

Jordan Michael Ohl, 25, pleaded to corruption of a minor, as a misdemeanor 1. In exchange for the plea felony counts of aggravated indecent assault without consent, felony 2, and corruption of minors - defendant age 18 or above, felony 3; and indecent assault, a misdemeanor 2, were dropped in a plea deal with the district attorney’s office.

Ohl was charged by state police at Lehighton for incidents in East Penn Township on or about June 1, 2016. The victim is listed as a then 14-year-old female. In entering his plea he admitted to providing the female with alcohol. The police report indicates the initial response was for a child abuse allegation.

Nanovic sentenced him to serve one to 12 months in prison on the charge. He was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, supply a DNA sample and have no contact with the victim.

Ohl previously pleaded to one count of driving under the influence. He was arrested on July 2, 2019, by state police at Lehighton along Bank Street in Bowmanstown, for DUI of a controlled substance.

Nanovic sentence him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000 and one-year license suspension. The terms run consecutively.

Ohl was given credit for eight days already served.

He will begin serving the remaining 25 days on Oct. 29 at 9 p.m. and serve it on consecutive weekends.

Other cases

Christopher Daniel Skidmore, 39, of Lansford, pleaded to a charge of fleeing or attempting to elude police.

He was arrested on May 18, 2020, by Lansford police. Police attempted to stop him and he fled at a high rate of speed. The chase continued into Coaldale, where he stopped, then took off again. The chase ended when Skidmore’s vehicle blew a tire.

Skidmore is facing a jail term at the time of sentencing, it was noted. Nanovic deferred sentencing.

Lynde E. Kuntz, 22, of East Stroudsburg, pleaded to one count of criminal conspiracy - contraband into the prison, a felony 2.

She was arrested on June 27, 2020, by county detectives following an incident at the prison. She was involved in bringing methamphetamine into the prison.

She is facing a state prison term at the time of sentencing.

Sentencing was deferred.

Megan Marie Welsh, 28, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance - heroin.

She was arrested on Feb. 3 by Lansford police after they served a search warrant on a residence along East Bertsch Street.

In a plea deal, a felony count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance was dropped.

Nanovic sentenced her to time-served (28 days) to 12 months in prison and ordered her to get a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Dawn Ann Bradley, 48, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to one count of persistent disorderly conduct for an incident on March 10, 2020. Police responded to her home for a neighbor’s dispute. On scene Bradley refused to cooperate with police and had to be taken into custody.

Nanovic placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to attend and successfully complete an anger management course.

Thomas F. St. James, 46, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested by state police at Lehighton at the county prison in Nesquehoning, where he was brought. While processing him into the jail, he was found with Suboxone.

In exchange for the plea, a felony 2 count of contraband into the prison was dropped.

Nanovic placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and zero tolerance imposed for drug or alcohol use.

Joyce L. Card, 42, of Lansford, pleaded to one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while under suspension.

She was arrested on March 17 by state police at Lehighton along West Ridge Street at Coal Street in Lansford. Methamphetamine was found in the vehicle.

The charge of possession of a controlled substance was dropped in a plea deal.

On the drug count, Nanovic placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and zero tolerance imposed on drug or alcohol use.

On the suspension charge, she was fined $200 and costs.

Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs over $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
