Ross Twp. to host tree lighting, visit with Santa

Ross Township will host its Christmas tree lighting ceremony and visit with Santa on Dec. 4.

The time of the event has not been set yet, Chairwoman Tina Drake said during Monday’s supervisors meeting.

Drake offered to hang the lights on the outside tree to the left of the building and help Secretary-Treasurer Danielle Romano decorate the inside Christmas tree.

“We are thinking of bringing the visit with Santa inside,” said Bernie Kozen, executive director of West End Park and Open Space Commission.

In 2020, the township canceled the tree lighting part and had the visit with Santa as a drive-thru event.

Families stayed in their vehicle and the kids received a goody bag through the window.

They had a chance to chat briefly with Santa and give them their wish list.

If COVID-19 cases spike, they might have to do a drive-thru option again.
