West End Food Pantry feeds at the fair and beyond

If you are at the West End Fair and feeling hungry, stop at the West End Food Pantry’s stand. You won’t be sorry and you certainly won’t go away hungry.

They have added some new things to the menu that have been a big hit this year.

“The fried pickles served with ranch dressing is really selling,” said Karena Thek, the food bank’s director.

Another popular item, especially with the kids, is the deep fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

“Basically it is a deep fried funnel cake with peanut butter and jelly inside it,” she said.

If you are really hungry, you can order the smoked turkey leg, guaranteed to weigh over 2 pounds, Thek said.

“We also have cheeseburgers, Cali burgers, mac and cheese bites, along with hots dogs and corn dogs,” she said.

The food bank depends on the money they make at their stand to help pay for some of the operating costs during the next year.

“The food pantry is a nonprofit organization that serves the community and provides food to those that are in need, as well as other useful items that might not be available to some members of the community. It is our biggest fundraiser so we really hope people will come out and support us,” Thek said.
