August 13, 1953 - Jimmy Maehrer tosses a one-hitter to lead the Mauch Chunk Little League all-stars to a 4-1 victory over their McAdoo counterparts. Maehrer allows just a single and an unearned run in the third inning. The winners, coached by Allen “Hannah” Morgan and Ossie Maehrer, open the scoring with a pair of runs in the opening frame. Gerald Kunkle and Ronnie Gallagher both collect two hits and a run scored, while Gary Hiller and Jack Large each chip in with a hit and a run.
