Towamensing residents urge board not to grant resident temporary certificate of occupancy

Several residents of a Towamensing Township development have pleaded with officials to not grant an individual’s request for a temporary certificate of occupancy.

Lorraine Barbella, Whispering Wood Drive, approached township supervisors last week to ask what was going on in her backyard.

Board Chairman Guy Seifert told Barbella it pertained to a temporary occupancy permit to a neighbor.

“I’m asking you not to approve it,” Barbella said. “I’m asking for you to consider this deeply before this goes any further.”

Resident Cass Chies said there is one individual who has been crossing Barbella’s property to access his property for about 15 years.

Resident Dan Rodrigues agreed it wouldn’t be in the best interest of the township to award a temporary occupancy permit.

Chies urged the board not to award the individual a temporary certificate of occupancy.

“What signal are you sending to these residents if you allow him to continue to do this? “Please don’t issue this temporary (certificate of occupancy).”
