Ross Township supervisors had to alter their summer road work plans due to a material shortage.
“The quarry can’t supply material to Pocono Spray Patching. There is a known material shortage around,” Vice Chairman David Shay said during Monday’s monthly supervisors meeting.
Thus, Pocono Spray Patching requested in writing that the township terminate their contract.
That planned work will have to wait until next year. It would have included seal coating and line painting on Young Road, Anchorage Road and two sections of Meixsell Valley Road.
Supervisors voted unanimously to end that contract, to no fault of Pocono Spray Patching.
The money that would have gone to that project will now go toward more road work that will be done by Hanson Aggregates, which had won a bid for blacktopping and line painting at the April meeting.
In a separate motion, the supervisors voted unanimously to amend Hanson’s contract to include the additional square footage.
“We felt it was important to get road work done, so we awarded more to Hanson,” Shay said.
The company will add Tittle Road, Hemlock Road and Brian Drive to their plans, which had included Flyte Road, Rolling Hills Road, Dogwood Road and Meadow Court.
