Bowmanstown borough council
Bowmanstown Borough Council took the following action on Tuesday:
• Agreed to have Benesch bid the Craig Street Project using PennBID, with bids due to be opened at council’s Aug. 3 meeting.
• Granted approval to develop deed descriptions for 18 tax parcels on the Lower Towamensing Township side of Craig Street to support the quick claims being prepared by the solicitor’s office for the 10-foot-wide strip of land fronting Craig Street.
• Granted permission for Benesch to work with the borough office and crew to review annual permit requirements, update project documentation, and complete the annual MS 4 annual report due Sept. 30.
• Agreed to spend $2,290 to have Hazleton Oil remove 18 drums (five full, 13 empty) from the borough garage.
• Agreed to purchase pig snake pads for the absorbance of oil spills.
• Agreed to have only the borough secretary-treasurer and borough solicitor have access to computer passwords.
• Announced that beginning in August, First National Bank Trust will secure municipal deposits with investment securities and/or a FHLB letter of credit on a dollar-for-dollar basis. This will allow the bank to change the collateralization of the account in accordance with Act 72, and in no way degrades the extra protection offered to the municipal deposits.
• Accepted Antoinette Mullen’s resignation letter from the borough planning commission, and announced there are now two openings to fill. Interested candidates may submit a letter of interest to the borough.
• Agreed to send Luke Blisard to a 12-day training program for wastewater operator certification on Tuesdays, from Aug. 17 to Nov. 16. Council is trying to figure out whether they will pay him for his attendance at the course, pay for mileage reimbursement, and the test cost, which will be determined at next month’s meeting.
• Announced that the Carbon County Council of Governments will host an auction from 7:30 a.m. to noon Sept. 18. The county will be using two zones of its parking lot in Jim Thorpe, as well as a storage shed on the north end of the parking lot.
