Penn Forest supervisors discuss park
The Penn Forest Township park was the major topic of discussion for the June township supervisors’ meeting. During the public comments at the start of the meeting, a resident of the Bear Creek Lake development, whose home is across Route 903 from the park, told supervisors that there is “lots of activity late at night.”
She added that it seems there’s something going on there all night long. She then asked about lighting the parking lot.
Supervisors agree that lighting could be installed, at east at both entrances. This led to a discussion about the park being used for helicopter landings. The lights would need a switch to get shut off when a helicopter came in for a night landing.
Nearly 20 people came to the meeting with Todd Fox of the township’s park and recreation committee. Fox returned to advocate building a “pump park” for bicyclists. There was a lot of discussion, mainly on the cost to build this amenity, as well as about any added insurance cost to host it.
It was explained that the gentle, rolling nature of the attraction is ideal for little kids and people with disabilities. It is for bicycles, not ATVs. Installing one of these would normally cost around $100,000, but a developer of pump parks lives in the township and would manage the project so it costs only $50,000.
Supervisors decided that the group needs to go to the park and recreation committee with plans and gain their agreement.

Residents stepped forward to give the man enough money to make the payment in full.
