Charges held in Schuylkill road rage stabbing

Judge Robert Cashman held all charges for the Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas in the Route 61 alleged road rage stabbing April 12.

Tamiir Ion Whitted participated via video conference in the former Magisterial District Court of James R. Ferrier. The approximate two-hour preliminary hearing involved testimony from a witness, an Orwigsburg Police officer and a state trooper.

Whitted is charged with first and third degree murder, aggravated assault, simple assault, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, resisting arrest/other law enforcement possessing an instrument of crime, and recklessly endangering another person. He is accused of killing George Marcincin of Orwigsburg.

He remains in county prison without bail.

His attorney David Nenner said he expected the charges would be held for court based on the number of wounds. Testimony from an autopsy report detailed 19 stab wounds.

Nenner sought to dismiss charges of resisting arrest and fleeing police.

“There is another side to this case,” he said.

One that will be detailed in depth later, he said.

“There is a racial tone,” to this, Neener said.

Family members attended the hearing and did not wish to comment.
