Tamaqua police log

Tamaqua police reported on the following incidents:

• Amanda Larae Sarver, 33, of West Broad St., Tamaqua, is facing a charge of defiant trespass for an incident on May 3 at 11:51 a.m.

Police were contacted about a woman entering a condemned building at 29 Mauch Chunk St. The building had been posted on March 31 by the code enforcement officer and signs placed on the building.

At 9:43 a.m. a woman was observed using a chair to climb through the front window of the building. She was identified as Sarver. Police entered the building and found Sarver hiding under a table.

She was arraigned before District Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua, and committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post 10 percent of $5,000 bail.

• On April 20 at 7:40 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop in the area of Pine and Elm streets for failure to use an appropriate signal. The driver was identified as Fasil Foday-Rucker, 22, of Barnesville. At the stop officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Officers were also informed that Foday-Rucker had an active warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody.

During a search of the vehicle police found a small amount of marijuana in a cigarette container located in the center console.

• Francis Lamar Eisenberg, 33, of Cherry St., Tamaqua, is facing charges of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and harassment.

On April 30 at 9:28 a.m. officers were dispatched to 322 Orwigsburg St., for a protection from abuse violation. The victim said she had a PFA order issued against Eisenberg and he was at the residence in violation of the order. Eisenberg left before police arrived.

The victim showed officers a video of Eisenberg knocking on her door, moving the cameras and yelling at her. Eisenberg is currently on bail for violation of the same order.

• A Tamaqua man is facing charges following an incident on April 27 at 1 a.m. in the area of the Tamaqua police station.

Police said an officer was returning to the station and saw a man in the parking lot. The officer asked the man, later identified as Jason Christopher Wiersma, of Pine Street, what was wrong, and the man said he needed a ride home. Wiersma told the officer where he lived but said he didn’t know where he was at, only knowing he was in Tamaqua.

He admitted drinking alcohol some time earlier and that he was drunk. He was eventually taken into custody and placed in a cell at the station. After about 20 minutes Wiersma removed from the cell and taken home. He was told he was being cited for public drunkenness.
