East Penn supervisors concerned with billing
The East Penn Board of Supervisors is concerned about recent billing issued by Carbon Engineering. While it is assumed the hours were spent on trail development and on Route 895 improvements, the invoice did not capture itemized hours as agreed upon in the initial contract.
Chairman William G. Schwab was immediately concerned about the lack of detail in the invoice, and township Manager/Secretary Jillyan A. Sterling reached out.
Carbon Engineering was not willing to provide retroactive reporting, but this concerns the board, as they “will be required to submit an itemization to the grant funders,” Supervisor John M. Strockoz said. Sterling will reach out again, and the board will address the issue at next month’s meeting.
Roadmaster Brandon Bradford reported that work has been started on Bake Oven and Sand Quarry roads. Work will begin on Municipal next week. Concerns from residents about state construction were raised by Strockoz, but “by the time a road study is done, the work will be over,” Supervisor Gary Kuehner said.
Concerns about speeding were also addressed, but since East Penn “has no police department, there isn’t much we can do about it,” Schwab said.
Speeding is addressed by the Pennsylvania State Police when they are in the area.
The David J. Hauser and Rose Marie Hauser minor subdivision proposal was unanimously approved with conditions relating to review comments, fees and final plans being received.
A special meeting will be held on May 13 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss recent developments in the Synagro-Biosolids application. The session will start publicly, the board will go into executive session, and then they will return to the public hearing.
On May 15, there will be a fishing contest for children ages 1-15 in the Ashfield Park starting at 8 a.m. Check in at the pavilion. Prizes will be awarded in various categories. There will also be a chance auction, breakfast and hot dogs with chili for sale in the kitchen.
The recycling event will be held at the Community Center on Oct. 16 from 9 a.m. until noon or until trucks are full.
